This Cookie Policy (hereinafter: Policy) explains what cookies are, how Frendex Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság (Frendex Kft., hereinafter: Data Controller) uses them on the www.frendexapp.com website, what types of cookies are placed, and how you can manage your preferences.
This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which provides further details on how we process personal data.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) by your web browser when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device and remember certain information about your visit, such as your preferred language or other settings.
Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting (first-party cookies) or by third-party services that the website uses (third-party cookies). Cookies can be session-based (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent (remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).

We use cookies on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- Essential cookies: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest. These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function and remain secure (including bot protection on forms via Cloudflare Turnstile) and cannot be switched off.
- Non-essential cookies (analytics, recordings, marketing): Article 6(1)(a) GDPR – consent. These cookies are only placed after you have given your explicit, active consent via the cookie banner.
3. How we obtain your consent
When you first visit our website, a cookie banner is displayed offering you the following options:
- Accept all – enables all cookie categories (essential, analytics, recordings, marketing).
- Reject – only essential cookies remain active; all non-essential tracking is disabled.
- Customize – opens a preferences panel where you can enable or disable individual categories.
Your consent choice is stored in the frendex_consent cookie for 180 days. After this period expires, the banner will be shown again so you can renew or update your preferences.
You may change your consent at any time by clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the website footer.
4. Cookie categories
We classify cookies into four categories:

5.1 Essential cookies (always active)

The website language is determined by the URL path (the Hungarian and English versions are served on separate paths). If you switch language with the language switcher, a first-party frendex_lang cookie remembers your choice, so the homepage opens in that language next time. If you have not chosen yet, your first visit is routed to the Hungarian or English version based on your browser language setting. This cookie is necessary for the site to work and is therefore placed without consent.
5.2 Analytics cookies (consent required)
These cookies are set by Google Analytics 4 (operated by Google Ireland Limited, Dublin, Ireland) and are only placed after you grant consent for the "Analytics" category.

5.3 Recordings cookies (consent required)
These cookies are set by Microsoft Clarity (operated by Microsoft Corporation) and are only loaded after you grant consent for the "Recordings" category. Clarity is lazy-loaded: the script is not even downloaded until consent is granted.

Form inputs (names, email addresses, messages) are masked by Clarity and are never captured in session recordings. For more information, see Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
5.4 Marketing cookies (consent required)
Currently, we do not place any marketing cookies. This category is reserved for future use. If marketing cookies are introduced, this policy will be updated and your consent will be requested before any such cookies are placed.
6. Managing and deleting cookies
6.1 Via our website
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page. This reopens the consent preferences panel where you can enable or disable individual cookie categories.
6.2 Via your browser
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

The Data Controller has entered into Data Processing Agreements with each of these service providers in accordance with Article 28 of the GDPR. Where data may be transferred outside the EEA, appropriate safeguards under Chapter V of the GDPR are in place.
8. Tracking exclusions
Analytics and recording scripts are not loaded for:
- Visitors who have rejected all non-essential cookies;
- Requests containing the
?frendex_no_track=1query parameter.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Withdraw your consent at any time (via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer);
- Request access to, rectification, or erasure of your personal data;
- Object to or restrict the processing of your data;
- Lodge a complaint with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH).
